1900 – The first recorded Varsity Match – and the match by which all subsequent varsity matches are numbered – was played 16 March 1900 at the Prince’s Club in Knightsbridge, London. Oxford beat Cambridge 7-6. Notably, Jack Cawthra, the Cambridge captain was Canadian.
